He had to drive one from Madison Wi to all of his dealers untill a car pulled out in front of him near Fond du lac ,he slammed on the self energising brakes and one sucked itself to the floor. He ended up upside down in the ditch only damage was the spot light and radio antena broke off.He said he couldn't fall out of the seat with his suitcase and briefcase in the cab with him.I think he said the Udlx cost about 900 more than a U and when you got into 5th gear an extra lever allowed you to disconnect the counter shaft in the transmission and the engine governor and it could do 45 mph Dick2 wrote on Sunday, March 30, 2008 (PDT): We had a neighbor in ND that had one of those in the late '30's and early '40's. He said that he only needed 2-3 hours of sleep, so he bought sheep and herded them on abondoned farmland during the day through the dry depression days in ND. He'd doze during the day while herding the sheep. Then when the sheep bedded down for the night, he'd get in his UDLX and plow all night. It was the only tractor around that had lights in those days.
